Achievements

This procedure was the culmination of a series of events consequent upon the Heart Trust funding of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) in 2008. The TAVI programme has had far reaching consequences in that it has created a core competency in combined cardiac surgical and catheter based procedures at Waikato Hospital. The hospital is now well placed to provide the most up to date cardiac interventions possible for the residents of the Midland region.
