What does The Heart Trust fund?
The Heart Trust funds the purchase of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and services for use in public hospitals across the Midland region. We do not provide funding for individuals, but focus on projects that benefit the wider community.
Why can’t the Government fund these things?
While the Government funds most health services, public funding often lags behind rapid advances in medical technology and growing community needs. The Heart Trust bridges this gap by providing seed funding for new equipment and service development, ensuring that patients in our region have access to world-class cardiac care sooner than would otherwise be possible.
In all cases of Heart Trust funded initiatives, the Government has eventually taken over the replacement of the equipment or maintained the service.
What is seed funding?
Seed funding is an initial investment provided by The Heart Trust to kick-start vital projects in cardiac care. It acts as an endorsement by a responsible, well-informed organisation, helping to secure the latest technology and services faster than Government funding alone allows. Typically, seed funding is only a portion of the total cost and is often conditional on additional support from other sources.
Is The Heart Trust the same as The National Heart Foundation?
No. The Heart Trust is focused on working with Waikato Hospital to develop “cutting-edge” technology that supports the treatment of patients with heart disease in the Midland region. The National Heart Foundation is a national organisation that concentrates on training of professionals, research, public education and advocacy with respect to heart disease.
How can I help?
We would love you to donate or become a supporter, especially if you or your friend or your relatives have benefited from the Trust’s work. That means just about anybody who has had cardiac treatments at Waikato Hospital over the last 49 years. Pay it forward by donating, especially a small weekly or monthly payment. Tell your friends and relatives about the Trust. If you can’t make a donation - please become a supporter of The Heart Trust.
