Community Cardiac Defibrillators 2008

At the end of an international clinical trial, Waikato Hospital had 80 automated Cardiac Defibrillators available to donate to the community. The Heart Trust provided the funds to distribute the defibrillators to community organisations throughout the region. Defibrillators help the heart regain its normal rhythm after a cardiac arrest and increase patient survival by up to 40%.
