Tauranga Hospital provides health services to the people of western Bay of Plenty.  The Bay of Plenty DHB’s cardiology service is based at Tauranga Hospital and holds out-patient clinics in Whakatane in eastern Bay of Plenty.

Diagnostic services are available at Tauranga Hospital along with pacemaker implants and angioplasty.  Around 500 Bay of Plenty heart patients travel to Waikato Hospital’s state-of-the-art cardiac unit for specialised treatment and care.  The Heart Trust helped establish cardiac surgery, angioplasty and electrophysiology at Waikato Hospital.
